Faculty of Science and Technology Charts Strategic Path for 2025 at First Board Meeting

The Faculty of Science and Technology at Chuka University held its first board meeting of the year on the 21st of January 2025. Chaired by Dean Prof. Paul Kamweru, the meeting brought together departmental heads, all faculty academic staff, faculty representatives, key stakeholders, and former deans Prof. Musundi and Prof. Magana to discuss the faculty’s strategic direction for 2025.

The agenda included a review of last year’s achievements, ongoing teaching, ongoing research initiatives, and upcoming events, such as seminars, workshops, and public lectures aimed at advancing the knowledge and skills of both faculty and students.

Prof. Kamweru, the Dean, noted that teaching had started well in the faculty for the new semester, with positive feedback from both staff and students. The board also received and discussed reviewed curricula from the Department of Biological Sciences, following the standard five-year cycle. Additionally, Prof. Mwathi presented a new PhD curriculum in Computer Science, which was well-received and will undergo further evaluation for implementation.

The meeting concluded with a call to action to strengthen interdisciplinary projects and a commitment to elevating the faculty’s academic and research profile. A follow-up meeting is scheduled for March to assess progress on the resolutions.
