On August 29, 2024, the Faculty of Science and Technology inaugurated a two-day training workshop on “Malaria Modelling using R Software,” funded by the Applied Malaria Modelling Network (AMMnet). The workshop was officially opened by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor ARSA, Prof. Gilbert Nduru. The first day featured engaging keynote presentations by the main facilitators, Prof. Dennis Muriithi and Dr. Mark Okongo, who provided an overview of various malaria modeling techniques, including dynamical, geospatial, and genomics models. They also introduced participants to R software, data visualization, and computational malaria modeling techniques using machine learning algorithms. The day was marked by interactive sessions, with participants actively participating in practical exercises based on the presentations.
